Project rational<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) has received a grant to support implementing the Project for Improving Production Capacity Cooperation by Strengthening SMEs’ Capacity and Technical Collaboration on Industry 4.0 in LMC under the Mekong-Lancang Special Fund for a period from June 2024 to October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The recent development of productive technology has greatly impacted people\u2019s lives, particularly the industrial process and manufacturing, considering the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR4.0), also known as Industry 4.0. Among different scales of industry, this rapid change could greatly affect the SMEs’ operation in the region. These challenges include a mismatch of staff recruitment, technical training, skill deficits, and challenges related to in-house training and internships, as well as how SMEs modernize their facilities to catch up with IR4.0. Moreover, the major SMEs express concerns about getting support in business skills development, marketing and sales, accounting and human resource\/management, legal issues, and language skills. To promote industrial development, it is necessary to maintain sustainable and inclusive high economic growth through economic diversification, strengthening competitiveness, and boosting productivity. In addition, the weakness and narrowness of industrial sectors, e.g., the less sophisticated manufacturing structure in garments and food processing, have also been noticed. In contrast, most factories\/SMEs are still at the family scale and can\u2019t compete in regional and international markets, which is still a major concern among SMEs in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite almost steady ASEAN GDP economic growth at about 5.0% annually, industries, especially SMEs in Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, still lack diversification, informal and missing middle structure, weak entrepreneurship, an urban-centered industry, low-value addition, and low technology application. In such a view, this project aims to improve production capacity cooperation by strengthening SMEs’ capacity and technical collaboration to maximize their production using IR4.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results from the SMEs’ skill needs assessment are fundamental to evolving a special training program to enhance their capacity at the right level to start their industries with the support of the Project. The General Department of SME&H, with the assistance of International and National Consultants, is responsible for developing a training program plan and delivering it for all collaborative SMEs and creating cooperation platforms for regional SMEs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To achieve the overall project goal, the following outputs are to be achieved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Output 1<\/u><\/strong>: Development of training package for SMEs capacity building<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Output 2<\/u><\/strong>: Establishment of SMEs cooperation platform<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Output 3<\/u><\/strong>: Promotion of start-ups in region with collaboration with SMEs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
