Act. 1: Training of SMEs skills need\u2019s assessment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation (MISTI) organized a consultative workshop on \u201cSMEs skills need\u2019s assessment<\/strong>\u201d. The workshop was held at the Phnom Penh Hotel, presided over by H.E. Dr. Nhim Khemara, Permanent Secretary of State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main purpose of the workshop was to understand the challenges, knowledge requirements, and technical skill needs of Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs). This information serves as crucial input for the project implementation team and project consultants to prepare activity plans for capacity building training for factory owners and entrepreneurs. This training aims to provide them with the resources to improve their factories and enterprises and align with the industry 4.0 context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Act. 2: Training of trainer (ToT) by Chinese Experts in China on IR 4.0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ministry of Industry Science Technology and Innovation (MISTI) organized the “Training of Trainers Program to Strengthen Technical Capacity under the Context of the 4th Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0)”. This was held under the project titled: “Enhancing Cooperation on Production Capacity through Strengthening the Capacity of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Technical Cooperation under the Context of the 4th Industrial Revolution in Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia,” within the framework of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training program was presided over by H.E. Dr. Nhim Khemara<\/strong>, Permanent Secretary of State and Project Director. (online training)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training program was organized with the goal of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Sharing knowledge on the general overview of the Industrial Revolution 4.0<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Promoting the development and modernization of Small and Medium Enterprises to become a driving force in boosting national economic growth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Reflecting on the challenges in adopting technology and solutions within IR 4.0, specifically regarding new technologies, so that the industrial sector\u2014especially SMEs<\/strong>\u2014can adopt and evolve to keep pace with these technologies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The ultimate aim is to increase productivity, diversify products, strengthen quality and safety<\/strong>, and enable them to enter regional and international markets equally, which is the core of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Act. 3: Training on access to technical support, finances, and registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    To promote industrial development, it is necessary to maintain sustainable and inclusive high economic growth through economic diversification, strengthening competitiveness, and boosting productivity. In addition, the weakness and narrowness of industrial sectors, e.g., the less sophisticated manufacturing structure in garments and food processing, has also been noticed. In contrast, most factories\/SMEs are still at the family scale, and can\u2019t compete in regional and international markets is still a major concern among SMEs in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Therefore, technical support and access to finance for the SMEs\u2019 diversification are critical for the Project to achieve its indicators and goals. The workshop is the key subject, creating the forum for the SMEs to prepare their business plans and receive financial support through credit lines facilitated by the Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. The Purpose of the Workshop<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Introduce the 4th<\/sup> Industry Revolution (IR4.0) and technical support for SMEs and Business Incubators to start their businesses, and upgrade their facilities, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Raise awareness on know how to use digital technology and online registration for legal business establishment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Raise awareness to SMEs and business incubators in procedures of access to finance via credit lines (MFIs\/Banks) to start up their business and enhance their production and quality to compete in the larger markets, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Create a forum for SMEs, business incubators, and MFIs\/Banks to debate loan possibilities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
