Phnom Penh, December 4, 2025 — The 15th Annual Asian Society for Innovation and Policy (ASIP) Conference opened today at CamTech University, gathering representatives from 22 universities across 11 countries, alongside global experts, industry leaders, policymakers, and young researchers to explore the governance and societal impact of emerging intelligent technologies.
Presiding over the opening, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation H.E. Hem Vanndy emphasized that advances in AI, robotics, quantum computing, and biotechnology require wise stewardship and shared responsibility.
“The question before us is not whether these technologies will shape our future — they already are,” he stated. “The real question is how wisely and responsibly we will guide their development to serve the greater goal of human progress.”
The Minister highlighted Cambodia’s efforts to strengthen its innovation ecosystem through the Science, Technology & Innovation Roadmap 2030 and stressed the importance of investing in human capital and STEM competencies.
“We must deepen our investments in human capital. Our universities cannot do this work alone,” he said, calling for collaborative ties between government, academia, industry, and regional partners.
ASIP President Dr. Ko Young-Joo highlighted the society’s commitment to advancing high-quality research and nurturing innovation across the region. He noted that ASIP “strives to select the best papers and present strong research results that can help grow innovation and support industry,” underscoring the conference’s role in bridging academic work with practical development needs.
CamTech University President Prof. Sothy Khieng said, “This conference is more than an academic gathering — it is a testament to Cambodia’s rising role in science, technology, and innovation in ASEAN.”
