Automotive tyres are becoming one of Cambodia’s priority export products. In the first 11 months of 2025, the industry generated more than $1.2 billion in export revenue for the country, an increase of nearly 60 per cent compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
In recent years, a growing number of automotive tyre factories have begun operations in Cambodia. To date, at least six tyre manufacturing plants have opened in the Kingdom, all of which use locally sourced natural rubber.
According to plans, by at least the second quarter of 2026, another new automotive tyre factory located in the ISI Special Economic Zone is expected to begin operations.
Ken Oudomonysinat, CEO of Sailun Tire Cambodia, told The Post that the quality of tyres produced in Cambodia has gained strong support both domestically and internationally and is becoming a highly promising export product for global markets. Currently, more major international investors are showing interest in investing in tyre manufacturing plants in Cambodia.
He explained that the factors attracting international manufacturers to Cambodia include the country’s favourable investment laws, the high quality of Cambodian natural rubber, an abundant and reasonably priced labour force, and, most importantly, strong global demand for Cambodian-made products.
“In 2024, my company produced and sold more than 60,000 tyres in the domestic market and for export. But in 2025, in just the first eight months of the year, the company had already sold around 100,000 tyres,” he noted.
He added that the strong potential of both domestic and export markets has significantly increased Sailun Tire Cambodia’s demand for local natural rubber in 2025. The company’s demand this year is more than 100,000 tonnes, up from just over 50,000 tonnes in 2024.
