Cambodian Tech Firm VP. Start Aims for International Expansion, Seeks MISTI Support

Phnom Penh, July 31, 2025 — H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, met with representatives from VP. Start Technology Co., Ltd., a Cambodian engineering firm specializing in smart grid and energy management systems.

During the meeting, the company presented its vision to expand into international markets and sought the Ministry’s support on regulatory compliance and innovation certification.

VP. Start, which has developed and deployed over 10,000 devices to Electricité du Cambodge (EDC), emphasized that all of its products are designed and built in Cambodia by a team of 100 local engineers. The company also highlighted its sustainability-oriented technology that helps reduce energy costs through smart grid data analysis.

Minister Vanndy welcomed VP. Start’s invitation to visit their facilities and commended the company for its homegrown innovation. “This is a proud example of Cambodian engineering talent at work,” he said. “But to compete internationally, you must also invest in intellectual property protection and compliance with standards.”

He encouraged the company to register patents and to engage with Cambodia’s National Laboratory and the National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (NISTI) for joint research. “We want you to succeed—but also to lift others with you, by helping grow our entrepreneurial and research ecosystem,” he added.
