Phnom Penh, October 27, 2025 — The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) has launched a nationwide campaign to promote product registration and strengthen Cambodia’s quality assurance system that safeguards consumer health and builds trust in the marketplace. The campaign runs from now until the end of 2026, offering reduced registration fees and dedicated support for both local producers and importers.
The campaign was launched in Phnom Penh and brought together some 2,000 participants, including representatives from 19 national producers, six importers, and three automakers.
Under this campaign, producers and importers who register multiple products at once will receive special incentives — 10% off for 5–19 products, 15% off for 20–49 products, and 20% off for more than 50 products.
“Product registration is not new or additional burden to business. This campaign is the Royal Government’s genuine will to improve services and support the private sector,” Minister Hem Vanndy said. “It is timely, appropriate, and directly responds to the concerns and requests of the market — from producers and consumers alike — as well as the evolving trade situation.”
Product registration is a procedure that provides identification to products in accordance with the Cambodia Standard CS001-2000 on Product Labeling. For consumers, it provides transparency and traceability as registered products can be traced back to their legitimate owners.
In the past five years, the Institute of Standards of Cambodia (ISC) has registered 9,535 products, a modest figure compared to the large number of products circulating in the market. MISTI is now developing new mechanisms to simplify procedures and reduce costs to encourage greater participation from producers and importers.
As part of its broader reforms, MISTI has simplified the application process and reduced requirements for documentation. Each product registration certificate is valid for three years.
A single application can now cover multiple products, with processing completed within five working days if all documents are in order. Producers and importers now have the freedom to test their products with any accredited laboratory and submit the test reports to support their applications, without having to test with the ISC.
For this campaign, MISTI has tasked the ISC to establish a dedicated support team to provide consultation and technical guidance for the private sector.
“We encourage producers and importers to apply directly to ISC,” said Minister Vanndy. “Avoid unnecessary intermediaries who add cost without adding value.”
Minister Vanndy also called on all producers and importers to demonstrate responsibility, integrity, and transparency in their business operations through proper product registration, noting that these values are essential for long-term business success and foundamental for national development. At the same time, he urged consumers to use their purchasing power to promote the same principles by choosing to buy and use only registered products.
MISTI has so far published data of registered products on its website, allowing consumers and distributors to verify legitimate products. MISTI’s digitalization of public services will include the full online product registration system by 2026 that will streamline procedures, simplify documentation further, and reduce human interaction — making the process faster, more transparent, and less dependent on intermediaries.
