PHNOM PENH, December 23, 2025 — The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) on Tuesday opened a workshop to disseminate procedures for industrial property registration and e-filing, alongside the issuance of patent and industrial design certificates, underscoring Cambodia’s push to modernize its intellectual property (IP) system in the digital era.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, H.E. Phork Sovanrith, Secretary of State at Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, emphasized the critical role of a national IP system in strengthening competitiveness and innovation.
“Clear, simple, and modern understanding of the registration system for intellectual property protection is the foundation for creativity, new product development, and support for businesses of all sizes,” he said.
He highlighted ongoing cooperation with World Intellectual Property Organization, including the rollout of IP automation systems and the launch of online registration services for patents, utility models, and industrial designs, all designed to reduce time and costs for applicants while improving transparency and efficiency.
“An effective, modern, and user-friendly intellectual property system is a crucial cornerstone for fostering local innovation, attracting foreign investment, and protecting research and development,” H.E. Phork Sovanrith added.
The workshop brings together representatives from government institutions, universities, SMEs, and the Intellectual Property Association of Cambodia to deepen understanding of e-filing procedures and IP protection, as Cambodia advances toward a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy aligned with Industry 4.0.
