Cambodian and German officials met to strengthen and expand agriculture and agribusiness cooperation between both countries, with German officials stating the commitment to promote Cambodian agricultural products in foreign market.

On January 14, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Veng Sakhon, received and spoke with the German Ambassador to Cambodia, Christian Berger, and a group of German agricultural experts.

The Ambassador praised and appreciated the cooperation between the two countries and stated that the main purpose of the meeting was the study and research of Cambodia’s potential in agriculture. Ambassador Berger stated that the group of German exports have decided to boost the export of Cambodian agricultural products to the German market.

The Ambassador added that the German experts who attended the meeting were from large German private companies that have been investing and exporting Cambodian agricultural products to the German market. Ambassador Berger stated that the European Chamber of Commerce is ready to cooperate with Cambodia on issues such as: building capabilities of farmers and farming communities, implementation of contract farming and hygiene in accordance with German and European standards, etc,
