Cambodia’s trade volume up 20 percent in first half of 2022

Cambodia’s total trade volume was valued at $27.2 billion in the first half of 2022, up 20 percent from 22.6 billion dollars over the same period last year, according to an official report released on Tuesday.

The kingdom’s total exports were worth $11.37 billion dollars during the January-June period this year, up 33.9 percent year-on-year, and total imports reached $15.86 billion, up 11.9 percent, the General Department of Customs and Excise’s report said.

China is the largest trading partner of Cambodia, followed by the United States, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore, the report said, adding that the Sino-Cambodian trade volume hit 5.98 billion dollars, up 19.7 percent.

The significant growth was attributed to Cambodia’s high vaccination rates, free trade agreements as well as market diversification.
